The spherical body of each speaker is 8" diameter, maximum dimensions of each speaker including spikes are 11" x 11" x 11".

𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

Each speaker is crafted by hand in Brooklyn, New York and takes 4 to 6 weeks for production.

The speakers can be installed in hanging (pendant) or free-standing (bookshelf) configuration. The spike design allows for flexible directionality of freestanding placement, as the speaker can rest on any combination of 3 spikes. The eye bolt for hanging installation can be installed in place of any of the spikes upon request, allowing for flexible pendant speaker directionality. By default the eye bolt is installed 180° opposite the driver, for a downward firing pendant configuration.

The speakers are passive and designed to work with standard hi-fi amplifiers and receivers. Some recommended models include: Arylic A100, Wiim Streaming Amp, and Dayton Audio DTA-2.1BT2. Each channel uses a 5.25" full-range point-source driver - 8 ohm impedance - 56 watts power rating.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

The Morningstar Speaker design was inspired by a technological coincidence bridging hundreds of years of history: the form of a Morningstar (a medieval spiked mace weapon) is an acoustically optimal design for a speaker.

Sound expands spherically, and spherical speaker enclosures are renowned by audiophiles for their even frequency response. Within the enclosure, the spherical walls create a maximally complex path of reflection for sound waves, allowing the speaker to harness the acoustical amplification provided by a hollow cavity while maintaining an even frequency response. Outside the enclosure, the curved wall prevents early reflections off of the surface of the speaker, creating a more direct experience of the sound.

The spikes of the Morningstar function as loudspeaker spike components, a type of hardware specifically designed to isolate vibration from the surface the speaker rests upon. The speaker can stand on any combination of 3 spikes, allowing for flexible directional positioning. Any of the spikes can also be replaced with an eye bolt, allowing for use as a hanging pendant speaker with flexible directionality.

The spike in the speaker's center functions as a phase plug, reflecting and dispersing high frequencies to create a more spatially even frequency response ideal for home listening environments.
